Nagoya protocol is the international agreement wherein the using country must get PIC from the providing country for the commercialization of genetic resources through R&D and share profits according to MAT. Korea is the 98th nation to ratify this Protocol and entered into force domestic law to implement the Nagoya protocol on 2017.

Nagoya Protocol will have direct impact on cosmetic industries using genetic resources. Countries relying mainly on the import of overseas genetic resources like Korea will have to pay more for the supply of raw materials. This presentation will show the current issues and case studies of each country, and refer to the impacts of the Nagoya protocol and response measures to cosmetic industry.
