Development of anti-ageing cosmetics using standardized water plant Nymphoides grown in smart plant factory

Recently, cosmetics worldwide trends are oriented towards the use of phytochemicals present in natural resources. But, when plants are grown in the open field, their quality and productivity tend to vary with the climate. World is increasingly faced with global problems including unusual weather and environmental pollution. These issues drive the need for new solutions for production of plant-derived products. Aquaponics is an innovative and sustainable hydroponic plants production system using fish waste(ammonia) that can play an important role in the future of environmental and socio-economic sustainability.

So, we began researching the aquatic plants Nymphoides to find a suitable material for aquaponic system. There are approximately 50 species of Nymphoides, N. indica(NI) is traditionally used in the treatment of scabies, antipyretic, and antiproliferative purposes. Despite the medicinal usage, there is no comprehensive data on skin cells.

The purpose of this study is to identify the novel anti-aging function from the aquatic plant cultivated using a sustainable aquaponics system, and to use it in the cosmetics industry.
