Anti-pollution claims have progressed to a world-wide cosmetic segment. Scalp has the potential to adsorb pollution particles resulting in compromised barrier and follicle. Visible hair is vulnerable to pollution damage with no mechanism for self-repair.

Ashland proposes a holistic approach to protecting hair and scalp from urban living stresses with cosmetic actives, Procataline™ (hydrolyzed pea extract) and Capauxein™ G2 (a fortified hydrolyzed corn protein); and pollution shielding technologies, Aquaflex™ XL-30 (polyimide-1) and N-DurHance™ AA 2000 (acrylamidopropyltrimonium chloride/acrylamide copolymer).

In vitro and clinical studies provide supporting evidences to the mechanism of shielding and mitigating oxidative environmental stress from hair and scalp.
